Nigeria’s Falcons defeat Zimbabwe’s Warriors


The Super Falcons of Nigeria Saturday evening walloped the Mighty Warriors of Zimbabwe 4-0 in an African Women Championship, AWC, qualifier played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.The Nigerian team, beefed up by four Euro-based players wasted no time as Sunnana SK of Sweden forward, Perpetua Nkwocha shot Falcons into the lead in the 6th minute with a powerful strike, which caught the Zimbabwe goalkeeper napping.Falconets player, Desire Oparanozie, increased the tally in the 17th minute, while her teammate in the junior side, Esther Sunday scored the third goal in the 19th minute.Stella Mbachu nailed Zimbabwe’s coffin with her fourth goal in the 57th minute. It was a powerful strike from the far left of the field.Falcons coach, Kadiri Ikhana said: “I’m happy that our plan has worked out today. We invited players from the junior team, Falconets because we want to build a stronger team.“And it is apparent today that it is a good idea if we consider the number of goals that we scored.”
