Pastor Flees After Failed Abortion

A pastor at Kyuso district in Kitui county of Kenya is on the run after police linked him to the death of a form four student after a botched abortion last month.
Detectives form the Criminal Investigations Department were investigating him over the death of the Itivanzou Mixed Day Secondary School student.
The clergyman with the Royal Priesthood Church is on the run since he learned that he is a prime suspect in the case. Kyuso DC Peter Maina said local CID boss David Simiyu released the pastor on condition that he reports to the Kyuso Police Station every week.
"This pastor has not gone back to the CID Office since he was released on bond mid last month. The police are now looking for him," said Maina over the phone.
During the burial of the girl at Kamuwongo sub-location, police officers shielded the pastor from angry villagers. The DC handed him over to the CIDs to help with the investigation into the girl's death.
A relative of the deceased claimed the pastor took the girl to Mombasa where she died. He said the pastor claimed the girl was taking medication for typhoid when she died, however, a post mortem showed she was pregnant. "It is obvious that this was a case of concealed pregnancy," the relative said.
