Nick Cannon is opening up about his fast-rising career — and the health crisis that threatened to derail it.
The 31-year-old sat down with CNN anchor Larry King for Social Media Week LA Friday and spoke about his many roles as an actor, rapper, host of America’s Got Talent and doting husband of superstar Mariah Carey — as well as his recent health struggles.
What did Cannon say?
“I have no regrets,” Cannon said when asked if he would change anything about his life. “I believe life is all about the stories you can tell, and I have some great stories to tell, good and bad.”
The multi-talented star also spoke about being diagnosed with Lupus, an autoimmune disease with no cure that caused his kidneys to shut down earlier this year.
“Right now it’s not [life threatening] but I will never confess that it will be,” revealed Cannon, who welcomed twins with Carey last April. “I am working past it; I’m working through it. I’m a strong believer in faith. It was scary at the time, but I’m 100 percent now.”
Cannon’s health scare forced him to slow his pace: In March, he revealed he was stepping down as radio show host on 92.3 NOW to focus on his health.
The news was surely music to Carey’s ears. She stayed by his side during his January hospitalization and, at the time, took to Twitter to thank to well-wishing fans. Tweeted the diva: “Thank you everyone for all the love & concern. Nick is in stable condition with a good prognosis. Hopefully he’ll be discharged within 2 days. As always, he’s laughing and in good spirits.”
