The Church of Scientology is accused of bending the rules by letting Tom Cruise see Suri. Although some folks are extremely surprised at how little time the normally doting dad has seen his daughter since he and Katie Holmes divorced, a Radar Online source is shocked that the pair have been able to spend so much time together.
A former Scientology insider told the Hollywood news website that the controversial church is straying significantly from the typically strict rules about associating with those who have left the religious group.
Former president of the celebrity center, Nancy Many, had this to say about the Tom Cruise visitation with Suri:
“They have already bent the rules for Tom. If Tom was any other Scientologist, including lesser celebrities, he would not be allowed to continue seeing and maintaining communication with Katie or Suri, because they are no longer in Scientology. So far, because of who he is, Cruise has spent time with Suri, which has already upset the parents and children of existing Scientologists who can’t talk to their loved ones. If he is supposed to be a Scientologist, who don’t the rules for every other member apply to him?”
The former church official also maintains that all the other individuals she has ever known who have left Scientology have immediately been shunned. Many also contends that, since Katie Holmes allegedly joined the Catholic Church nearly instantly after the divorce, the actress has made an extremely public statement against Scientologists.
If the Radar Online source’s statements are accurate, once members leave the church, they are un-friended on Facebook within hours. The swift dismissal of friendship both online and in the real world also allegedly extends to the relationships with children and parents.
Tom Cruise was reportedly supposed to enjoy a visit with Suri while he was filming in London last month. Katie Holmes allegedly called off the visit over concerns about stress on the child, who is still adapting to her new routine in Manhattan, according to Star Pulse.
