Mother of Nigeria’s Finance Minister, kidnapped last Sunday, has been released, officials say.
Paul Nwabuikwu, spokesman finance ministry, said the mother of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was released Friday morning.
Meanwhile, police in Delta, said they are not aware of the release, signaling the release of the minister’s mom was secured outside the operations of the police.
Paul offered no further explanation on how her release was secured. He, however, thanked the police, governors of surrounding states, and President Goodluck Jonathan, for their prayers and encouragement during a very difficult period.
