Malaysian court jail Nigerian 15 years for drug

A Nigerian, Queen Amaechi Iwuala, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by a High Court sitting in Malaysia after she pleaded guilty to an alternative charge for the possession of 2.881 kg of Methamphetamine at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang, two years ago.
Judge Datuk Akhtar Tahir, on Monday, ordered the 39-year-old woman to serve the sentence from the date of her arrest on October 22 2010.
Initially, Queen pleaded not guilty to a charge under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death sentence.
She changed her plea to guilty however after being offered the alternative charge under Section 12 (2) of the same Act.
Deputy public prosecutor Yong Leou Shin prosecuted and K. A. Ramu represented Queen.
