Italian footballer chains himself to FGIC gates after he is suspended for three years

After 24 hours defense footballer Emanuele Pesoli is still chained to the entrance of the FIGC offices in Via Allegri. The player for Verona, formerly with Varese, has been sentenced to 3 years for match-fixing for the attempted combination Siena-Varese, the match played May 23rd of 2011 and ending 5-0 for the Tuscan team. Pesoli was visited yesterday by the General Director of the Football Federation, Antonello Valentini. This morning the president of the Footballers Association Damiano Tommasi commented on the Pesoli case, "we are closely monitoring the situation with Emanuele Pesoli, who after the verdict is staunchly convinced to have been unfairly disqualified. "We wish to express our support for him from a human point of view, while remaining convinced that the different levels of sentencing can give further recourse to those who believe they were unjustly sanctioned. I hope that Emanuele manages to put his instinctive reaction aside and will be able to face this new challenge with greater serenity."
