Police authorities in Kano, northwest Nigeria on Monday said they are still investigating the remote and immediate causes of a murder case involving four Chinese nationals at kwanar Ganduje Quarters within the metropolis of the commercial city.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim K. Idirs told reporters that Jimbo Zhao Dang Dong and Smith Zhhang Ze are being detained at the Headquarters of Kano Police Command for killing Xucheng Kun and his friend identified as Old Man during a brawl.
The police boss narrated that preliminary investigation revealed that the two suspects killed Xucheng and his friend after taking intoxicants suspected to contain high percentage of alcohol.
The suspected murderers, both staff of Zhao Dongs Nigeria Limited were arrested by the Police at the scene of the incident on July 11, 2012, along other visitors at Xucheng’s residence in Kwanar Ganduje Quarters.
Neighbours to Xucheng alerted the police of strange noise from his residence.
“Though investigation is still ongoing, from what we have gathered so far, the two suspects had visited Xucheng, who was believed to have been indebted to them. They were believed to be highly intoxicated. When the visitors raised the issue of the money, the deceased did not respond favourably as we learnt, he told them the debt was not documented and he could as well refuse to pay.’
‘It was at this point that a serious brawl ensued and using Jack Knife and other dangerous weapons, they hacked Xucheng and Old man to death. Both of them are in our custody and will soon face prosecution after thorough investigation, Idris said.’”
Items recovered by the police at the scene of the incident include one Chinese shot matchet, one jack Knife with blood stains and some quantity of intoxicant.
The Commissioner of Police also said that one Surajo Abdullahi 19 is in detention for beating to death Mallam Adamu Mohammed, during a brawl, “as a result he slumped and was rushed to the hospital where he later while receiving treatment.
The Command also recorded the arrest of two rapists, Shehu Ismaila and Nazeri Mohammed for sexually violating two teenagers at different locations and at different times.
The Kano Police Commissioner said the Command has successfully detonated (12) 25kg Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and 15 hand grenades, bringing a total of Explosive Devices that were success fully recovered and detonated within two weeks in the State.
Also, CP Idris decried the disturbing menace of Cyber Crime in Kano and warned owners of Cyber Café to desist from fraudulent activities.
The Police Boss’ warning was coming on the heels of an incident that occurred at Al-Chiroma Cyber Café located on No 17B Sarkin Yaki, Sabon Gari, where the Café owner, with three others forged admission forms of the Kano State Government proposed North-West University and sold to unsuspecting public.
“Based on information, one Chiroma Uba Anamba conspired with Hamisu Yahuza, Abubakar Suleiman and Abubakar Mohammed, all of various addresses; forged and printed admission forms of proposed North-West University Kano and sold it to unsuspecting members of the public at the rate of N3, 500 each at Al-Chiroma Cybercafe. 201 forged admission forms and four laptop computers were recovered. Suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and have been charged to court,” police said.
CP Idris also disclosed that 216 suspects were arrested at different black spots across the state, 57 were released after interrogation, while the rest faced prosecution.
Exhibits recovered by the police within the period under review include, 1,342 wraps of Indian Hemp, six cutlasses, eight clubs, two cow horns, Iron rods, 25 pieces of 7. 65 mm shells of ammunition, three locally made pistols, forged admission forms, four laptop computers, five knives, Honda CRV with registration number, A63 KGM.
Others include blood stained Chinese shot matches, two blood stained Jack knives and intoxicants, motorcycles, rope and screw driver, House breaking implements, Chub safe, Chisel hammer, Toyota Camry, with registration number XR 570 EKK and AK 47 rifle.
