Gunners ace Sagna hit out last week and boss Wenger said: “I have had a chat with him about it. I believe any player or any employee always had to defend the company he works for.
“And if he is not completely happy with it then he has to go somewhere else. That is what I say to everybody.”
French full-back Sagna, 29, was moaning at the club’s failure to keep hold of their top stars.
He admitted he was fed up after seeing a string of talented team-mates leave the club in recent seasons.
Wenger was furious with Sagna, who joined from Auxerre for £6million in 2007, for airing his views.
Sagna also hinted he could be the next star to quit the Gunners.
He admitted club chiefs had not spoken with him about extending his current deal, which expires at the end of next season.
But Wenger said: “A new contract will be discussed. I expect him to stay.”
However, the boss is in no hurry to sort out his own deal, which runs out in 2014.
The Frenchman, 62, said: “At the moment I’m not in the mood to think about the long-term.
“I will assess my own performances and then make a decision.”
