The Two and a Half Men star was one of the hundreds taking part in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon, which includes an ocean swim, an 18-mile (28.9-kilometre) bike course and a four-mile (6.4-kilometre) run, but Cryer had to pull out of the race midway through the second challenge.
He was treated for minor injuries on site, and had to stand back and watch as his fellow competitors, including celebrities James Marsden, Rainn Wilson and Ellie Kemper, raced past him to the finish line.
The 26th annual event raised an estimated $1.17 million for the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ pediatric cancer research program.
