On-off romance: Calvin Klein and Nick Gruber were together for almost two-and-a-half years
Calvin Klein’s ex-toyboy lover has spoken out about their two-and-a-half year romance for the first time.
Nick Gruber, 22, who split from the fashion designer in January said their relationship was full of highs and lows, with one of the lowest points being when he was forced to take a lie detector test over suspicions of cheating.
The former porn star and model said that Klein - 48 years his senior - drove him to a Holiday Inn in Chelsea, New York, where he was interrogated by an ex-detective in the basement for two hours.
Recalling the incident that occurred last spring he told Page Six Magazine: 'I passed it. And then, you know, things were much better. But I mean, what kind of partner would make you take a lie detector test?'
He described that the detective presented him with a business card simply reading, 'Dr. Love.' before grilling him.
However Gruber, does have many fond memories of his time with the multi-millionaire creative, especially the time he was presented with a $250,000 Bentley sportscar.
Talking about the 2011 Supersport model, which was his dream car at the time, Gruber said 'It was my baby'.

Story to tell: Nick Gruber has detailed the highs and lows of his relationship with multi-millionaire fashion designer, Calvin Klein, for the first time

However when the couple split Gurber claims that he had to return the vehicle to Klein, despite him dismissing it as a showy object and the equivalent of a 'Chanel handbag'.
Gruber, whose nickname is 'Romeo'. met Klein through friends when he was 20 years old and in the army. He said they connected over their humble upbringings.
His mother served time in prison for drugs when he was 15, while Klein grew up in the Bronx, the son of Jewish-Hungarian immigrants.
As their relationship developed Gruber decided to quit the military and move to Manhattan, where Klein put him up in a luxury penthouse in the West Village.
Talking about his former boyfriend Gruber said: 'He taught me a lot... You Know, like how to present myself to an older crowd. Traveling the world is an education in itself.'
But it appears that he also introduced Klein to new things, including his first McDonald's.
'I made Calvin go to McDonald’s and have a Big Mac, and he asked if they had it medium rare,' he laughed. 'He took a bite, and he was like, 'Ugh, what’s this?''
But this January their relationship came to an end. At the time a source told the New York Daily News newspaper: 'They're on a break. They could get back together, but who knows?'
During the spring Gruber started drinking heavily and on the night of April 24 things reached breaking point. He was arrested for allegedly stashing cocaine and punching a man he brought home with him after a night on the town.
After the arrest Klein sent him to the Meadows rehab facility in Arizona on his private plane and paid for his £35,000-a-month treatment.
In August he pleaded guilty to one drug charge in a Manhattan court and judges gave him a conditional discharge which meant his record would be cleared of all the charges if he completed 20 days of community service.
Gruber seems to have moved on from his much older lover and after being spotted with several young women over the summer, he is now dating 48-year-old Hollywood animator John Luciano.
In September he accused Klein of hiring private investigators to stalk him and Luciano. Gruber told the New York Post: 'Calvin can hire goons to follow John and me all he wants - we have nothing to hide. I’ve moved on. I’ve never been happier.'
Gruber currently lives with Luciano in West Hollywood, spending the weekends at Luciano's Newport Beach family home.
Luciano, who is the grand-nephew of the notorious mobster Lucky Luciano, joked: 'The most intimidating thing is having sex with your boyfriend and pulling down his pants and his ex-boyfriend's name is staring you right in the face.'
Gruber is now said to penning a tell-all memoir about his relationship with Klein, tentatively titled Obsession: My Life With Calvin Klein, with further details to be announced in January.
